Our little 'pumpkin princess'

Finally I was able to upload a couple of new pictures. Raquel is getting into the Halloween spirit and we are having a lot of fun dressing her up .As for trick or treating I think she will be a fairy princess...no surprise there. She is already to go with her pink sparkle (her favorite color like her mommy) tuille skirt with matching wings, wand, halo head piece, rhinestone tiara, and pink sparkle shoes. As you all know there aren't many neighbors here (3 total) and one of them will be gone so we will make it a quick night but all the sooner for us to get back home and see all the other gouls and goblins. Happy hauntings all!

Post-op checkup

Yesterday was Raquel's post-op and Dr. Kirsch said everything looked great. We went ahead and scheduled her follow-up surgery for Thursday Nov.8 and then 2 weeks after that she will go in for a follow-up MRI and hopefully at that time we will be given the news that the surgeries were successful and she will no longer have to take daily medications. (Keep your fingers crossed) The 2nd surgery will be at Scottish Rite Hospital here in Atlanta and she will hopefully not have to be admitted like her previous surgery and it will be done on an out patient basis. She will be put under a 'twilight' sedation as oposed to general sedation as before so I am anticipating that they will not have to keep her overnight...I hope so especially since Ross will unfortunately be out of town until late that Thursday evening. I'm sure all will go well especially after how remarkedly quick she recovered the last time. Also, for those of you who don't know by now...Raquel is walking on her own ALL over the place and running ALL over the place. It was quite funny. She decided at 3:32 on Thursday two weeks ago that "Hey, why haven't I been walking all along?" and stood up without any help and off she went. And that was the beginning of the end for momma! She now needs to explore everything repeatedly and I'm sure soon she will discover that there is a whole other floor upstairs that she has yet to conquer! God help us:) I've been trying to upload new pics of our little angel but the BLOG is experiencing difficulty at this time so I will try again soon. Wait until you all see how many teeth she has...12!!! talk to you soon.

Raquel's surgery and visitors

Our little one had her surgery last wednesday and we couldn't be happier with the outcome! Dr. Kirsch discovered that her right kidney had corrected itself so ther was no need to do anything on that side. Her left kidney still had issues but he feels that he was able to correct the problem and hopefully that will be the only time that she will require surgery. We will take her in for a post-op appt. on the 11th and she will be put under 'twilight' sedation so that Dr. Kirsch can remove the shunts he placed in her bladder and he will double check her right kidney again at the same time. After that we will go back in 4-6 weeks for a final post-op and hopefully that will be the end of it!! Raquel handled the whole surgery thing like a champ. She wasn't able to eat or drink anything the morning of the surgery and then when we got to the hospital we were informed that Dr. Kirsch was running behind by a couple of hours so she didn't get wheeled back until 3:30 in the afternoon and still had had nothing to eat or drink but she wasn't crabby at all...she just kept cruisin' the halls looking for a new friend. We were fortunate enough to have some family here during this whole time. Believe it or not Crazy Momma actually got on a plane for the first time in 15 years and came out to support us for 10 days and Aundrea came for 5 days and then had to go back to work so Aunt Jonann flew out for the next five days. It was wonderful to have them and we couldn't be more appreative of all the prayers and support that we received from everyone during this hard time. Raquel is quickly on the road to recovery and we look forward to many years of chasing that little beast around the house. Hugs and kisses to you all from Raquel!
