The Finished Project

The chair is done now too and of course I had to make it ultra girly like the floor cabinet piece. Ross hasn't seen it yet but I'll bet his favorite part of it will be the black beaded fuzzies around the seat! He seems to be partial to that type of detail:) The picture does not show all of the detail like the use of four different paint colors as well as some pink rhinestones on the bottom where the black paint is. It really turned out quite adorable.

Nothing New

Just a quick update to say that things are still really good ie: feeling good, not too huge yet, but we sure get a good chuckle of my ever increasing belly size, baby is moving ALL THE TIME, and Daddy is doing great still and is sooo in love with his little girl that I believe that I will have to be the heavy all the time because she will do no wrong in his eyes. (He's such a softy) She definiately has developed a sleeping and waking schedule, one of which makes me crazy, because she stirs at almost the exact same times throughout the night 12:20, 2:40, 4:30 and if she's really feeling fiesty, again at 5:30, IN THE MORNING! So therefore Mom gets up too! I guess that is how she is training me for my upcoming night trials. Bless her for looking out for dear ole Mom!

Another New Project, Another New Project!

I find myself expecting Not to want to do things because of my ever increasing girth, but somehow everytime I look around I find some new and exciting little project that can keep me entertained for a few days. And this is the latest, in conjunction with the child's rocking chair of course, that I just HAD to do. What is it you ask? It is to house the diapers, hand purifing lotion, desetin creme, baby wipes, etc. so that those items don't clutter up the counter where the baby will be. All of you how know me well know that I'm a little neurotic about things not being on the counters so this will eliminate the need for space on the dresser. Ross thinks the black feathers on the top and around the legs are a little much but I say, "Who Asked Ya!?" plus I think it looks FABULOUS!

New Project, New Project, New Project!

Yeah! Now that the nursery is almost done I find myself wanting for something to new to work on , tadaa! This is a 'before' and 'during' picture of my project. This childs rocking chair was made by hand by my Great Grandfather McElwain for my Grandmother Grace Hayes about 100-105 years ago when she was a small child and then it was passed down to my Dad and Aunt, then to myself and my siblings and now I'm updating it and getting it ready for our daughter so that someday hopefully she can pass it on to her children (if she has kids.) Originally it had a hand caned seat but I found it too difficult to re-do myself and a little too pricey to have done by a professional so therefore I have elected to go with a standard plywood seat that will be covered in fabric that will coordinate with the rest of the fabrics in the nursery. It was a painstaking intense process to remove the years of paint, grime, stains and so forth to get it to the condition you see in the picture but it will be well worth it in the end for a lovely heirloom will continue it's journey through our families. (I just hope I don't screw it up:))

Happy Daddy's Day

Even though "technically" Ross has yet to become a Dad, I still decided that he should be recognized as a Daddy to Be so Little One and I got him a couple of books, "The Expectant Father; Facts, Tips and Advice for Dads to Be" and "What to Expect When Your Wife is Expanding" A parody. Good lord I should have gotten these books 7 months ago! I actually found them quite beneficial to me being that I finally got an objective view of what Ross has been going through these past few months and now I better understand what he was thinking when all I was thinking was "he can be such an insensitive ass ", "doesn't he know I'm pregnant!" and a bunch of other unmentionables. So BAD me for not getting it sooner and bad Ross just for the heck of it! We also got him his first official Daddy plaque (picture) one of many to come over the next few years I'm sure and made him breakfast (not in bed however). So all in all I think he had a nice day...hopefully, and hopefully all you Dad's had an enjoyable day as well!

I'm NOT a loser!

Yeah! I passed my gestational diabeties test so I'm not a loser anymore! Actually I was quite relieved because not passing can sometimes mean large babies (don't need that thank you very much coming from the 11lb. 4oz. big mamma), having to watch your diet quite closely, no eating certain sweets or least some restrictions on them, and it can get as bad as having to take insulin injections EEKKKK! So thank god I'm a WINNER!

Gestational Diabeties Test

For those of you who don't know, I failed my G.Diabetic screen last Tuesday so I had to go in for a follow up 3 HOUR LONG GD test this past Tuesday. Can you say long and boring not to mention the highly sugared, sickeningly sweet gunk I had to drink was no fun! But it had to be done. Now we are waiting on the results of that test. I'll let you know as soon as we know.

A girl always needs a BIG closet

Thanks to her Daddy, our little one will have the ideal girls closet. Lots of space, shelves, and storage for all things girly. Plus, room for more goodies that all girls need:) Ross spent his only full weekend day off PAINTING the inside of her closet so it looks pretty and then another few hours customizing her new closet so that it would be just right. She may not realize it just yet but her Daddy is head over heels and will do anything for her! She's already got him wrapped around her little, tiny , not yet born but workin' it well, finger! Watch out Daddy!

Introducing...

Our baby girl weighing in at 2 pounds 7 ounces and a whopping 13 inches from crown to her tippy toes. She is by far the most stunning beauty we have ever seen and it was UNBELIEVABLE to watch her "come to life" before our very eyes! It is tremendously different to see her in 3D and color than it is to see her in 2D black and white. She had already become part of us but now it is so much more real, to see her as she will look at birth is amazing. So say "hello" to the world and the rest of your extended family little one...It's your debut!

Text book case of sympathetic weight gain

Well here we are at seven months pregnant (actually two days shy) and I must say, someone needs to watch the twinkies and BEER. I'm not pointing any fingers but "someone" may have a difficult time losing the baby weight, but boy is he adorable! We're both feeling good and lookin' pretty good too!

Latest doc visit

We went for another 4 week level II ultrasound a couple of days ago and here's what the Doc had to say. Her left kidney is still enlarged (reading 8mm and should be 5mm) and now it appears that she has developed a cystic kidney as well. What's a cystic kidney you ask? It's when the kidney develops a secondary sack like kidney filled with fluid that is attached to the exsisting kidney. Doc says that they will "monitor" it just as they have been doing already with the enlargement and it's something that can be treated after delivery with medication and/or surgery for removal. They keep telling me not to worry-this could rectify itself-she's a work in progress-but all I hear is "Blah-Blah-Blah" because what I need to hear, what I desperately want to hear is "Everyting is perfect and you have nothing to worry about". The worry factor has already started and she's not even born yet....oh dear lord....what have I got myself into? As for her right kidney, it too is slightly enlarged (reading 7mm) but no apparent cystic attachment which is good. Doc doesn't seem to worry about this either. Most importantly she has adequate amniotic fluid which means her kidneys are doing what they should and her bladder is functioning properly. Good News! So we will go for what they call a "anatomy/growth" ultrasound on July 6th which is a two hour ultrasound where they count fingers and toes, etc. Wish us luck and we will keep you informed!

Room update

Just a quick look at some progress. We got the artwork all hung yesterday and some shelves so just a few more things to do and we will be done!

Picasso's back (and bigger..dam twinkies)

Good Morning! I couldn't sleep so here I am updating the blog. For those of you who thought that I wasn't showing all that much I would like to say,"WHHAATTT!!!!"...Momma's got back and then some:) I actually have to say that I am truely enjoying the way my body is feeling and looking right now. I feel empowered by this new shape and quite like it plus for the first time in 36 years I'm not on a damn diet but still lookin' good (boy I'm modest). Dad and I spent some time in the nursery yesterday hanging art work and painting again (just shelves this time). Dad has become quite the expert at hanging art. We had some pieces that were not going to be easy to mount plus they needed to be level with one another and may I say, he did it in no time flat and it looked perfect on the first try! DARN HE'S GOOD! DARN I'M LUCKY TO BE MARRIED TO HIM! Today he will have the day off so to speak because he and a friend are going to the Jimmy Buffett concert in Charolette. I was supposed to go with him but this little one has decided to set up house directly on top of my sciatic nerve in my right leg therefore making it quite agonizing to sit for long periods of time or walk without limping, so driving 3.5 hours, which would convert to 6 hours due to Doc's recommendation to stop and walk every 45mins or so, is not an option my friend. I can't tell you how difficult this is for me to have to pass up an opportunity to see Jimmy! Anyone who knows us knows that we are die hard fans and we travel the US to stalk him,. oh I mean watch him:) and to know that he is this close but that I can't see him is going to be awful, awful, awful!! Oh the sacrafices I'm already making! Ross will have to give me a play by play and he's been instructed to take lots of pictures and to call me from inside the concert so that I can hear my Jimmy over the phone. I'm going to be sad today but I will play Jimmy Buffett cd's all day and go to that "special place" in my mind.....crazy lady.
