On the Pediatrician Search

We've started our quest for our pediatrician and it's an interesting feat. I attend various "new Mom workshops" in the hopes of landing the ideal pediatrician for our daughter which is all great and groovy with one small hiccup....every one that I go to is sounding like their the best . They of course need to sell themselves so that they get new patients but I don't think I get a true impression of what the facility will really be like because they all say exactly what you would expect to hear. Oh well, I guess we will just continue with the search and trust our guts with the selection. We can always change with a new one if we truely don't like one of them....or would that be mean!? Too bad.

What? Isn't this for me!?

Little Prince Jolly Mon' has found that he too loves the new room in our house. He seems to think that the upholstered footstool that I made is for him and likes to sit and wait to be served! Oh does he have a harsh reality awaiting him soon. But in the meantime...isn't he adorable!

Memorial Day weekend not for resting.....

Here are some photos of the progress that we have made so far with the nursery. We still have another faux finish to apply to the bottom of the chairail and some accent black to go between the harlequinns but we have definately made a lot of progress this weekend. Ross did ALL the beautiful striping in the room and we both were a little concerned at first whether or not it was actually going to turn out or if it was going to be a big waste of time but as you can see, it looks stunning! I think I may have to to do this technique in another room as well!! I still have some staging to do and of course tweeking is always necessary but I must admit I'm diggin the look. (Now watch....we'll get told that we are moving:))

Baby shower

I forgot to post this picture with the last blog. This is my Aunt and good friend who won the trivia contest about sitcom familes...they watch entirely too much tv!

The baby shower

My sister and Crazy Momma hosted a baby shower for me when I was back in the midwest last week. It ended up being a small get together due to an unexpected family emergency with my sis-in-law's sister needing an emergency c-section at just 28 weeks due to preclampsia (extremely high blood pressure) so the family was needed there. I am happy to report that Kay and baby Zelda are doing good but Zelda will have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks or months until she gets her strength up but a full recovery for mom was reported. The baby shower ended up being quite nice and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

She's a night owl

Our little one is making it apparent that she prefers the night. I didn't feel her much yesterday until we went to bed and that's when she decided it's time to Party! Movin' and shakin' all about! She feels like she would dance like her Daddy-meaning she's getting into it! I'm just glad that I can feel her. Now you may want to check back with me on that in a few weeks to see if that is still true:) but I suspect that it will be!

Happy Mother's Day TO ME!

I got the BEST Mother's Day present ever!! It wasn't breakfast in bed or a bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolates (however that would have been spectacular!) nor was it beautiful jewelry (would have taken that in a second!), it was feeling my daughter kick for the very first time! It was 10:20PM last night and she decided that it was time to say "Happy Momma's Day" and gave me a good solid kick! I immediately grabbed Dad's hand and plopped it right where she had kicked me and she obliged by giving him a strong kick too. It was by far the most surreal thing I have ever experienced and amazing doesn't come close to explaining the sensation I felt! It was a wonderful and beautiful moment that I will never forget!

Twinkies and Beer

I am almost ready to concede! I don't know if I can take it anymore! I'm going to have to give in and buy some MATERNITY shorts! ARGHHH! I have been trying to go as long as I could but there's just no more waiting. I can't seem to lay off the twinkies and beer so I will just have to buy clothes that will allow me to keep up with my ever growing belly. I have even tried shorts that were just in a bigger size which is fine to get around the belly but hell for any poor soul behind me to look at. It looks like I'm wearing a potato sack around my waist! Some may say that not having to wear maternity clothes until your 6 months along is impressive but I say Poppycock! I SAY not EVER having to give in to the "uglies" is impressive and what I was trying to do......I concede......

Our Daughter

Introducing BabyM to the world!!! Now weighing in at a hefty 1 lb 5 oz and about 9 inches long. Looks like daddy's nose and moms lips. Doctor update - left kidney still larger than the right and outside what they would like to see, but they assure us that it is nothing to worry about at this point. Have a follow-up ultrasound in four weeks and at the time we may be paired with a pediatric oncologist, Dr. Bennett. The main thing they say they want to watch right now is the amount of amniotic fluid and they say she is right where she should be at this point so they aren't very worried right now. (however mom is) Still no kicks - dad keeps telling her this is the only time in life where she can get away with it so she should make the most of it, but nothing yet.

THE FURNITURE'S COMING..THE FURNITURE'S COMING!

Delivery will be next Tuesday evening! I can't believe it's actually on time. I truely thought it would be at least 3 or 4 more weeks. Unfortunately Ross will have flown out already and won't see it until that Saturday and I won't see the crib put together until I get back from the midwest the following Tuesday. So surprises for both of us! Ross is so excited too because he gets to spend his first weekend alone putting together the crib (which I hear can be time consuming) instead of drinking a cold beer playing x-box all weekend. Actually, knowing him as well as I do I know he's probably looking forward to it because it will be somethig that he personally is doing for our daughter and he wants to be 100% sure that her crib is totally safe and secure! He's already very protective!! AHHHH......Daddy's little girl.

Picasso's back

He reared his ugly head! I HAD to paint the guest bathroom, it looked too much like the Easter bunny was living here with the purple bathroom right next to the "salmon" pink nursery so it is now a sophisticated coco brown and looks oh so lovely next to the nursey. (At least we want scare any potential buyers if we were to sell the place any time soon) (NOT saying we are moving!!) Tomorrow is our follow up level II ultrasound at 8 AM to see if her kidney is still slightly enlarged. Last visit 6 weeks ago the Doc said her left kidney was 1 mm too large, which doesn't sound like it should be a big deal but when we're talking about a person who is only 7 oz. to begin with it puts it in perspective. So wish us luck! I'll update again tomorrow with the results. PS....still being stubborn (like her Daddy) and has not kicked me yet! Soon enough I'm sure!

I'VE GONE PICASSO CRAZY

To Ross' dismay the Doc gave me the go-ahead on painting but now I believe I may have an addiction. I painted the chairail, the garage door trim, the garage stairs, the cottage fence in our backyard, the guest bathroom (started at least) then got scolded about doing too much. I wanted to continue with the shade house out back but Ross says he will do that. He is going to paint the nursery this Saturday so that we can get going on the faux finish which I'm sure is going to take some serious time to complete. So for now, Picasso will have to go back in hiding, but who knows when he may return??????? PS. Still no kicking, I'm waiting!!!!

Still nothing

Just a daily update to let you all know...she still hasn't kicked Mom. This is the ONLY time in her life that I will keep wishing for her to kick me and as soon as she does I'll probably want her to stop:) Doc says it could be another week or so. We will wait.......not patiently but none the less wait!

The Nursery

Ross and I are excited to announce that the "buying" portion of the nursery is officially done. Now we are waiting for installation and deliveries of the items we ordered. If your interested in some of the items we chose I will post websites that you can go to to view said items at the end of this blog. We selected beautiful antique white furniture pieces along with a crib of course that she will be able to grow with throughout the years which makes Dad very happy (sticker shock!) The crib converts to a twin size so when our little one isn't so little anymore she will be all set. We chose a color palette or ivory white, salmon pinks, and accented those with black because our little girl will be quite chic of course and quite the shopper to Dad's horror hence the name of her bedding "Rodeo Drive". Don't fret I keep telling him, I will be there to protect his interests!!!HA HA HA! Oh scary day! We have decided to paint the walls with a faux finish called French Brush which will give the appearance of a subtle antique sueded look, hopefully it will turn out quite elegant but I won't know until I can convince Dad that I should be the one doing the technique. We are still "discussing" the idea of me painting even though we got the Doc's permission, Dad's just a little protective. We also had a chairail installed in the room so that whimsical harlequinn shapes could be painted below to give the room more visual interest. I think I'll be the one drawing them out and letting Ross paint them in.( Even an engineer can do "paint by numbers"!) Here's a listing of the websites. Sorry no pictures as of yet. I haven't been taught the highly sophisticated stuff with this blogging, maybe soon! www.Babysupermall "Rodeo Drive Baby Crib Bedding by Glenna Jean (We're not doing all of what you see, just the 5 piece bedding ) www.Rosenberryromms.com "Pink polka dots rug" size 4.7x7.7 www.Greatchandelier.com See picture on previous blog www.Stanleyfurniture.com Youth Furniture Product search "Ma Marie": we got the single dresser(will be used as changing table),single door armoire with mirror, three shelf bookcase with drawer, and built to grow crib. The boutique that we bought the glider from doesn't have a website posting for their gliders but you can see a similar representation of the one we ordered at www.JCP.com Best swivel glider in pink ultrasuede

Doctor Visit

We had our next doctor's appointment yesterday and everything seems to be fine. Still haven't felt the baby kick but the doctor's keep saying that is normal for where the palcenta is located. He said this is absolutely nothing to worry about as the placenta isn't blocking the cervix.....whew! Since we haven't felt the baby kick yet, we convinced the doctor to give us a quick ultrasound. Everything looks good, although a lot more cramped for her than the last time we saw her......yes, we're sure it's a her! Thank goodness, no furniture returns and starting over or having a pink boy's room. Doctor told Michelle it was ok to paint in a room with the window open and a fan going.......it's under discussion as Ross isn't bought in to this. Next appointment is for our full ultrasound follow-up on the 11th. We should get a good look at our little girl then.
